Gustav Klimt (1862 - 1918)

Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) enjoyed early success as a decorative painter, working on the staircase in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna in 1891. He resigned from conservative Viennese Artists’ Association in 1897 and, with other artists, set up the Viennese Secession. Klimt was their first President.
