Autumn Sun I, 1912

Autumn Sun I, 1912

Egon Schiele

This painting displays metaphorical echoes of Schiele's relationship with Gustav Klimt, depicting a mature tree producing golden fruit standing isolated against a mountain sunrise next to a young sapling also beginning to bloom. Schiele often likened the role of an artist to that of a fruit bearing tree, even writing to his mother on one occasion in 1913 that "I shall be the fruit which will leave eternal vitality behind even after its decay".

The painting will be delivered unstreched, rolled in protective & presentable case.
